Session Description
Getting media coverage for your organization can provide a tremendous boost in creating public awareness for your work. However, many nonprofits have a difficult time explaining what they do, especially, when it comes to talking with the reporters. There are many things you can do to prepare in order to take advantage of media opportunities. This session will present the basics of crafting your organizational story in a way that is understandable to the media. Areas we will cover include:
- The role public relations plays in your overall marketing effort.
- Best practices for developing your organizational message.
- How to identify the right media and approach reporters.
- How to structure your stories for maximum impact.
- How to use images and videos effectively.
This session will include some hands-on activities, so come prepared to share your stories and get feedback.
