The Heroes Project Website Dramatizes Extreme Hope for Veterans

CLIENT: The Heroes Project

Organization

Veterans are returning home in droves from Iraq and Afghanistan, some with severe disabilities. To help them regain hope, the nonprofit organization The Heroes Project, is committed to bringing veterans to the 7 highest summits in the world. A documentary of the climbs will be distributed to veterans hospitals to show veterans who have missing limbs that there is hope.

Website Design

We designed a new interface for this website to dramatically showcase the organization’s message and raise funds for the climbs. The design takes into account best practices for nonprofit website design by making a strong case for supporting the climbs. The homepage focuses on the sense of accomplishment and hope that the extreme climbs bring, while icons of the 7 summits lay out the plan for the next several years. The homepage design also solicits support for a specific wounded warrior and features a moving video for emotional appeal.

The site is currently being updated with the new design.

Successful Seminar at the Foundation Center

Howard Adam Levy spoke about Nonprofit Marketing on a Shoestring at the Foundation Center yesterday. He described the process for updating Friends of Karens’ brand and website and then interviewed Jill Gold, Friends of Karen’s Communications Coordinator. Marketing Consultant Nancy Schwartz opened the session with an overview of marketing for nonprofits.

10 Ways to Save Money on Your Marketing

1.   Be consistent to foster recognition. This will save your audience from having to “decode” your message every time they encounter your organization.

2.   Conduct your own research – do interviews over the phone and surveys online with Survey Monkey.

3.    Have a Brand Manual that features your message points and design templates so that you are not constantly re-inventing
the wheel when it comes to grant applications, newsletters, and other marketing.

4.    Use colors wisely. Digital printing typically becomes cost effective at quantities of 1,000.

5.    Get support online. Join a discussion forum on LinkedIn.

6.    Talk to your printer before you start your project — or better yet, at the beginning of the year, so they can find efficiencies.

7.    Tap into volunteers for marketing functions such as photography. You won’t know what you can get until you ask.

8.    Empower your board as brand ambassadors to speak about your organization. Give them the tools and make them aware
of this role.

9.  Make your fundraising event budget go further by adding “mission awareness” as part of your events so that donors
are aware of what your organization does.

10.   Plan your marketing for the year. It’s worth taking the time to determine your goals and the best way to reach them.

Howard Adam Levy discusses how Red Rooster Group developed Friends of Karen’s website. and then interviewed Jill Gold, Friends of Karen’s Communications Coordinator.

Shema Koleinu Website

Red Rooster Group designed the logo and website for this Jewish organization that is looking to attract unaffiliated and interfaith families and individuals in Miami area. The website portrays a welcoming environment and a non-intimidating feel for Jews of all kinds. The colors for this Jewish nonprofit brand provide a welcoming feel and reinforcing the brand colors. The new website kicks off their new event “High Holy Day Services.” The website is built in WordPress with a content management system that makes it easy for the client to update information.

Branding

We developed a logo that presents the traditional Jewish symbol of a candelabra as a congregation of different types of people. The welcoming colors represent the organization’s upbeat personality. The logo was used as a backdrop during the religious services, acclimating participants to the new organization.

Shema Koleinu Business Cards

“What a thrill to work directly with the Principal of this company! Howard immediately listened to my needs and my vision, as a small company, and has truly helped turn my dreams into reality! He supports my vision and ensures a brand is created that clearly conveys what I am imagining, and it is a pleasure to work directly with him! I couldn’t be happier or more honored that this prestigious group has made such a positive impact on my future organizational goals!”

Shema Koleinu Event

”I just wanted to write and say THANKS SO MUCH to you and all of your staff for a very successful “beginning” in our branding and marketing efforts this year. Our first-ever High Holy Day services were a HUGE success, and I wanted you to see how your efforts manifested themselves in our services. We had sold over 350 tickets and hope to hit 400 before the week is over. It was a great first time experience, and our guests told us how much they LOVED the SK artwork and logo design, and how it made them really feel like they were connected to something beautiful. We are thrilled, and looking forward to an amazing year. I consider everything we achieved a huge success, and I thank you ALL for your efforts in helping me create this!”

Updated Brand Unifies Social Service Organization with 3 Locations

Grafton Featured Image

CLIENT: Grafton

Providing services for people with a range of mental disabilities including autism, Grafton School was perceived as the last resource for help. With three locations in Virginia, the organization was calling out to be rebranded as a regional powerhouse in behavioral healthcare. Red Rooster Group repositioned Grafton as a centralized source for hope in the Mid-Atlantic region. We updated an old tagline and introduced a new visual look.

Brand Architecture

Our research uncovered that one of Grafton’s strengths, the specialized expertise and dedication of its staff, was not being conveyed. We shortened the official name of Grafton School to Grafton and established a brand hierarchy to unify the organization’s four locations under one brand name.

Brand Manual

We created a brand manual to explain the brand – what the organization stands for — and specifies colors, typefaces, graphics  and guidelines for the brand. This has allowed the client manage their own brand effectively.

Governance Matters Website

When the Alliance for Nonprofit Governance changed its name to Governance Matters, we helped to transition the brand. We cleaned up the homepage of the website to provide direct access to the main features of the site for this nonprofit organization that promotes good governance.

Board Leadership Section

We also added a new section to the site that helps board members find solutions to their governance issues. The section channels the user from symptoms of their problem, to root causes, to actions they can take, to specific resources for their particular issue, providing a comprehensive resource to board governance issues.
